The perfect shit storm of humanity has happened and we did not have enough TP on hand.
We were so overwhelmed with work, money, family, picket fences, teslas and degrees and success.. burn out was imminent … the rampant consumerism, the entitlement and on and on it goes with the societal woes.. so overwhelmed we forgot to check in with our humanity. We forgot to investigate our community and ensure everyone was well… In a moment of overwhelmed humanity we left the door open for hatred, Greed and Power. We allowed one virus to be weaponized by another virus known as Society or maybe “the man”. This little tiny virus has exposed the underbelly of humanity and laid bare all of our vulnerabilities. The bigger virus …. Well that virus feasts on keeping all of us in fear, keep the fear going and both viruses can continue to be a menace in our world.
We were racing into 2020 with a fever pitch of headlines, Fires, destruction, plane crashes, US election and then just one poorly cooked meal by one human in 7.8 Billion of us has become the great historical moment of a generation. We all sat at home, watching madness unfold from the safety of our TP thrones now assembled in our living rooms. We watched things we never imagined seeing or hearing.. Never in my life will I forget hearing George Floyd call for his momma. In that moment the belly of humanity was again exposed and showing a wound.. as people all sat at home… the whole world. Home watching the injustice in real time.. no one could deny or testify that what happened was okay.. The big virus pulled away our eyes with covid numbers and random Twitters… we did our best to hold tight.., may our eyes and ears be watching as intently as the verdicts are read.
We went from this tragedy right into the tragedy of the American election. A circus show like we have not seen since maybe Caligula times… With everyone at home, there was so much more time for key board warriors and heated rhetoric.. by election day we all felt like covid was the more merciful option… Sitting for the days after we all sat in stillness trying to fathom the closeness of the vote.. the laid bare belly began to bleed.
As we headed into winter with the calming down of the American politics, it felt like a fever might break, rumours of approved vaccines brought good will and cheer to us from a socially acceptable distance. It looked like we were heading towards a new chapter in 2021, the governments were shrinking back into supporting roles and the humans were looking to be finding the cure to get us all back to concerts and pubs. This is the great pause and call for help for the bleeding belly.
The Bleeding Belly of humanity will hopefully find the desire to carry on and heal. We sit in a time where a viruses come in many forms and While science and humans mesh together to cure the one virus.. the bigger virus requires energy, positivity and collectiveness. We need to stop drowning ourselves in the greed and the success measures created by a system set up to perpetuate the chase. Humans need to look at community and start to help our neighbors, We need to check what success means.. who told you a degree made you a better person?? We as humans have arrived at 2021 with a bleeding belly and a snootful of trauma that will take years to sort… Let’s make sure we have a good herd immunity to Hatred in general and lets hope that in Healing we leave the planet a little less political and a lot more resilient.
