The coronavirus responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic seeped out of Wuhan Province a little over a year ago and spread around the U. S. and the rest of the world at arguably the worst possible time with a cruel and hostile compulsive liar in the White House and his supporters poised for an assault on reason. Three years prior, his Legion of Idiots, newly emboldened in the wake of the election that put him at the helm after eight years of relative harmony, were chomping at the bit for a go at science and, more generally, education. In 2020 opportunity knocked. In a call to arms, they emerged from the safety of their bunkers and militia camps and used their newly erected pulpit to weigh in on matters of science and openly defy infectious disease experts.
In retrospect, such a response should have been predictable. They turned wearing a mask in the attempt to reduce the spread of the virus into a symbol of oppression, openly disregarding guidance by world renowned scientists and health experts in a malignant demonstration of defiance. They saw lockdowns as government subjugation, despite myriad evidence that they are effective at limiting the spread of viruses, and garnered the support of bottom feeding enablers in Congress like Ted Cruz. In an effort to deflect the blame from God, they, in fact, did and continue to insist that the Chinese government is the culprit, creating the virus in a clandestine Wuhan laboratory and allowing it to spread throughout the world to annihilate their enemies, despite the facts that a) there is no evidence and b) due to globalization, if successful, such a tactic would result in China destroying their own economy. Many of them are highly suspicious of the vaccines currently approved by the FDA for emergency use for reasons that are beyond the limits of rational thought. Idiots do not require proof and see facts as inconvenient, as they often do not reinforce what they already believe to be true and thus must be either ignored completely or modified to fit their warped narrative.
The idiot in the White House perpetuated and encouraged their ignorance at every turn and planted the seeds of the shameful, treasonous spectacle that occurred at the U. S. Capitol when their pony lost the race. To them the truth is fluid – it has no structure and will morph into whatever shape it must. “We didn’t win the election? It must have been rigged!” Such reasoning is the opposite of democracy and akin to pissing on the graves of the Founding Fathers. Now, a few months after their messiah was voted out of office, The Dumb continue to believe and push their Alternative Facts and paranoid world view onto anyone naive enough to take them seriously. It is indisputable that in 2020 the actions and/or inactions of the United States government caused the pandemic to be worse than it needed to be. As we (hopefully) eradicate the virus in the coming months, those of us with the capacity for rational and critical thought, and that do not assume we know everything a priori, will take control of the narrative. The revolution of The Dumb is over. They lost. Now they are resorting to hostility toward Asians (it doesn’t matter which flavor) to assuage their compulsion to blame and subsequently punish someone. Racism, to them, is the most logical reaction – a mental reflex most often cultivated since early childhood and evolving into a societal cancer once they become old enough to vote. Blaming God does not even register on their radar.
There are two pandemics in America: one caused by a virus and one caused by stupidity. Now that the dust from the 2020 election has more or less settled and we are no longer inundated with the constant ramblings of a madman, things appear to be slowly getting better on both fronts. The Dumb are still shouting but their megaphone has been taken away. The American Dream has been intubated and is still in the ICU but showing signs of progress.
